This poem is written to explain the Diwali (fest of lights) holiday for hindus.
Diwali Poem

Vishnu’s Feelings.
O Sri Lakshimi, my goddess born from the sea of milk.
You are an eternal and imperishable mother of the world.
The goddess of love, beauty and prosperity, this is what you are.
The opposite of poverty is what you help with.
Because of you, the harvest season is prosperous.
At the same time, you give strength to the children and braveness to roaming souls.
Every time I close my eyes or not, I see you.
Know that your Vishnu has preserved the universe for you.
Every time you appear, somehow all my battles are overcome.
That mind of yours patches my understanding.
Your sincere devotion has sung the praises of righteousness.
Because you are mother earth, Vishnu will be your support.
The universe will regenerate in heaven and earth and you will still be my Lakshimi.
In heaven, you have stayed by my side like a fair maiden.
On earth, you have come to me in many forms.
You have changed you to please me in many incarnations.
When I was Rama, you were Sita.
When I was Krishna, you were Rukmini (Radha) and so on.
My bride, I love you for your selfless servitude to me.
Your embodiment is the sunrise and sunset’s glee.

Lakshimi’s History.
Your presence in the air makes the universe float like the soothing lotus.
You enchanted the demons eyes the day of the battle.
Your beauty has helped to save the universe from spread of darkness.
That day, the heavenly choir member sang you praises for your beauty.
And the elephants, with the streams of ganga and the sea of milk were all by your side.
As I must confess, in one of my visions that day, I saw the floating pink lotus sailing towards me with passion and selflessness.
You were like a magnifying glass moving closer and closer.
Today and everyday, let my chant of Om be with you.
You appearance has made the definition of beauty and at the same time help save the world from darkness and destruction.
You are like the cup of nectar the gods and demons were fighting for.
In my eyes, you quench the thirst for life.
Just your appearance has partnered me in a triumph battle over the demons.
What more can heaven and earth asks for ?
The demons will never get you because I am here to protect you, just as you are to me.
Your reflection of the oyster’s pearls is enough to light the earth.
Let that brightness endure in the homes on little earth.
Bless them goddess of love, beauty and prosperity.

Diwali Prayer.
Give them Diwali!! Bring light into their homes and cast all darkness away.
Every home has arranged rows of dias just for you, my dear baby pink lotus.
From their gates to inside their altars are glowing for your spirit.
You see, my four hands hold the “conch shell” to chant "Om".
The “discus” to watch the wheel of time, and to lead a good life.
The “lotus” to show the endurance of Vishnu.
The “mace” for Shakti and punishing if one was trying to steal you again.
And your beautiful four hands transcend spiritual virtues.
They behold the power to bless all human beings.
The one who sits on the blossomed water lily feeds us divine truth.
O Sri Lakshimi, the stems of the floating lotus drains medicine for illness.
By your grace, give the earth, blessing of divine happiness, mental and spiritual wisdom.
May prosperity spread in every home whether a mansion or hut on earth on the day of deepavali, on the day of rows of lights.
