About someone very close to me.
You sit there,
Shrouded in smoke, Deaths veil,
Gliding across the room, affecting all it touches,
Deadly poison,
Breathtaking addiction,
Seeping into our souls, as it rips into yours,
A feral beast,
Clothed in holy white,
Preying upon you,
Promising everything,
Giving nothing,
Wrenching all from your frail hands,
Your bones gnarled, dead twigs,
Falling from a decaying tree,
Your skin a desert,
Desolate, blasted,
And your eyes sunken pools,
Polluted Grey by your vice.

It comes at first unseen, a fingertip,
Brushing softly upon you,
So light that you cannot comprehend.
It grows,
Building in confidence, a fist,
A gargoyles grip,
Grasping its fingers, screaming for sustenance, around your life,
Squeezing,
Feeding,
Draining,
Life trickling away, a stream,
Soon a raging torrent,
As your foundations crack beneath the weight,
And that which is integral,
The essence,
You,
Slips into silent obscurity.

You lay there,
An angel,
Cocooned in healing light,
Robed in hope, bound by love,
A resident, in the house of chance miracles,
Playing at life,
Weaving a clever deception,
Hiding the decay within,
The eyes that see, but do not know,
The mind that comprehends, but cannot remember,
The body that is whole, yet lies broken,
Beaten by a lifetime’s gluttony.

Your foundations patch,
Your memory returns, a bird,
Gliding on fates wind,
Your body, a broken hero,
Battles back from his moment of darkness,
But it is there,
Your deadly prostitute,
Arch Enemy to your hero,
Pressed to your lips,
Seeping into your damaged soul once more,
That which you hate,
But cannot help love,
The great destroyer, come to feed again.
