Coming out

You stay so hidden though
    you are well seen;
All of your secrets, feelings,
    and dreams.
You thought no one cared,
    you thought no one could see,
but you were so wrong,
    because you met me.
I knew you before
    the day we met;
I don't know how,
    just a feeling I get.
Somehow I feel
    all of your pain;
The distance you put between us
    is driving me insane.
I pulled, you pushed,
I tried to make you see
Somehow you are
    a part of me.
My soul and yours
    belong together,
But yet, sometimes I have to stand back
    and say "whatever".
So many years have gone by
    yet looking at you,
    I still sigh.
You are slowly coming out of your shell;
You smile more often,
    that is how I can tell.
Your feelings are happier;
Your eyes,
    how they shine,
Could it be,
    your heart loves mine?
Sometimes it scares me
    to know you so well;
We dream the same dreams,
Say the very same things,
We both think we are
    the black sheep of our families.
We are so much the same,
    more inside than out.
