Tenderly and softly she placed a cloth over its head,
letting it off the hot pavement and gently carried it to the
soft green grass.
While resting in her merciful hands, it passed away.
Its passing was as calm
as its morning song.
We can only hope for such a passing, an act of kindness and love;
as gentle as the song of a dove.
