India is a country which is now free from colonialism. Years ago British were the kings. The Indipendence has completed it 60 years but this land reminds us the contribution of those great men who fought till their death just for freedom. Years ago this country was suffering the greivence of being controlled and manipulated.
For one hundred fifty years, our country was working for the European countries. India was a very rich country back then. It had spices, hand woven cloth, gold and silver, precious stones and lots more.
This richness of land brought the eyes of European traders. At that time, India was not socially, mentally and physically prepared to fight the strong foreign forces and thus, we lost.
Since then till 1947 many revolts took birth. The first started on 5th May 1857 by an Indian soldier who fought for the British, Mangal Pandey. The revolt was breaken by the British powers but it created a revolution. It gave birth to the beginning of freedom struggle.
Many valuable fighters such as Rajguru, Chandrashekhar Azad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Annie Besant, Subhash Chandra Bose, Durga Vohra, Ashvaqullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismill, and many more, known and unknown, were lost. Amongst them was a young revolutionary Bhagat Singh who was very influenced by the Jalianwala Bagh Mascarre where about more than a thousand people were killed. He sacrificed himself just for an indipendent nation, with a vow not to create a free nation, but to create equality.
The colour of sacrifice (also known as Basanti) still exists. Many Indian still fight at the border of LOC...
However, India might have freedom but it has a big greif. The mother India is actually divided. The country Pakistan was earlier a part of India. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the leader of Muslim League wanted a seperate nation for only Muslims. Mahatma Gandhi could not persuade him. And now Pakistan fights for a state of Kashmir. At the time of Indipendence, king of Kashmir was a hindu but the population was mainly muslim. So it was decided that a vote will be held for the people of Kashmir if they want to be a part of Pakistan or India or they wish to form a seperate nation for themselves. When the votes will be held is a question which is worthless when asked.
Many lives are actually contributing themselves at kargil. And when there are no Kargil wars, there are terrorist attacks in many parts of India, this keeps the soldiers busy.
Where is this leading us? Are we a divine country or are we coloured with Basanti? No matter what it may be, it is sacrifice which stays divine and shows a soldier the right path, to his duty. In the same manner, as a soldier is dedicated to protect his nation and do his duty, in the same manner, we are dedicated to our duties.
