A poem I wrote for school on the theme of loss in the Joy Luck Club
You left me, the sun leaving the sky
casting a dark shadow on all below
You were gone, the leaves falling from the trees
autumn's harvest turning into winter's gloom
You stranded me, the once vibrant flowers wilting
without the rain so badly needed
You were lost, the final piece of the puzzle
no where to be seen, no matter how long the search
You fell behind, the duckling straggling along
unable to keep up with the rest
You went astray, the thoughts flying through the mind
gone before full ideas formed
You melted away, the snow disappearing
as spring's warmth trickles in
You were lost, the empty chair at the table
the rest of the family gathered around
You faded off, the good time once treasured
now set aside, forgotten, as a distant memory
You went away, the storms darting across the horizon
clouds chased away by the coming sunshine
