This is a Christian poem that compares the soul itself to an overflowing river.
The soul is a river
That river is everlasting
And overflows with peace and purity
But sin had poisoned it
So that no one thought that it wouldever be clean again

But then one day Jesus came to that river
By His prescence, the flowers bloomed, the birds became joyful,
and the whole forest became filled with his glory, singing his praises
So this simple man and sat beside this river
Jesus of Galilee said, "If you truly want to live,
then you must take heed of my warning,
and you must trust me with all that you have
and you must protect yourself from all that those of this world have to offer you,"
And Jesus drank of the water and it was good, clean water,
This man who could with just a touch, or just a word,
of belief could heal all those who believed in him
So he drank, took a deep breath and said,
"No one else  has ever believed in you like I have,
I know who you are and I know your potential,
follow my ways and you will be made new"
This little river believed with all its might and all it had
And because it believed, it was like new

Others soon believed that this river could do great things also
Jesus spoke of great times and hard times, warning this small little river of what was to come
Jesus warned this little river to keep the faith, to press on,
Saying also that this river would grow bigger
That others would come to for healing and joy, for comfort and encouragement
They took special comfort in knowing that this river had also once been healed
Then after a very fruitful time, the forest this river was in, would become avoided
A wildfire came through and took the lives of many trees and this fruitful area died out
Yes, this still had its healing powers, but few came and enjoyed what was left
This went through a long, period of struggles, its time would come again...

Few things survived the forest fire, just the river, some trees, and a few others
This season lasted many years
Then a spring branched off from the river, and this spring helped bring the forest back to life
The forest became lively and full of life again, the animals came back, its time had come
The few remained faithful, started their friends and the rest of their community
This river now, finally, enjoyed its time of glory
The Faithful River knows that if it not for one simple man,
Jesus of Galilee, who healed hearts and minds,
The Faithful River would not be a healing river that welcomed all, overflowing with joy
Always following the ways of her master,
That she would be just one sinful, poisoned, without hope, without anyone to visit

This reminds that we too can be healed of all that happened in our past, that we too can believe in a better future, one that is overflowing with Jesus love
We will all go through our share of struggles, but take heart, there will be those who will remain faithful to you
And we also need to remember the promise that Jesus has made,
though trouble, he will be with us, and we will be stronger in the end
And that will be our time of plenty, with its truest of rewards
All the glory is given to Jesus, because he is Healer, Our Saving Grace
