If you lack a sense of humor, this may not be for you :-)
She was a June bride, full of love and desire,
Her face was aglow, and her soul was afire,
Looking forward to all that life had to give.
Couldn’t wait to learn about the life she’d live.

They said their “I dos” in a church full of grace,
He smiled down into her lovely, upturned face
When the cake was eaten, the first dance done,
They drove away into the crimson setting sun.

Their honeymoon was an affair to remember,
Hot enough to melt the snows of December.
They moved into a small house, still caught in the haze,
Never knowing what was in store in the coming days.

He went back to work, kisses and hugs at the door,
She went about her work, always excited for more.
He came home at night, tired out from his day,
She was an understanding bride, come what may.

A few months passed, and her days became harried,
She wondered what happened to the man she married.
Her wedding day began to seem just a distant memory,
Though she didn’t think about it much with so little time free.

The beautiful white dress and maidenly blush,
Were now replaced with dishes and a toilet brush.
The time spent picking out colors and setting the date,
Had given way to vacuuming and cleaning up after her mate.

Soon she was convinced he was making money under the table,
By taking in strangers’ laundry that always had a “wash by hand label”.
It wasn’t long before a table covered in water rings and dust,
Aroused in her a heretofore dormant and unknown bloodlust.

Where once she’d been excited at the idea of making gourmet meals,
Now her only concern was which supermarket had the best deals.
So what did this young woman do with the rest of her life?
She learned that a bride for one day meant an eternity as a wife.
