My Little World

I live within my little world
It's peaceful here inside
Don't try to get me to come out
You'll find I run and hide.

Give me a book or notepaper
a pencil or a pen
Then leave me to my own device
at my desk in the den.

I'll sit and cogitate a while.
I'll let my mind run free
It takes me to lands far away.
Places I long to see.

Inside my world there is no pain
I live life to the brim.
Don't make me come into your world
You know I won't fit in.

Just leave me be to spend my days
much as I've done before
Just turn around then walk away
and please, don't slam the door.

I'm happy in my little world.
Listen to what I say.
I've no intention of leaving.
Now please, just go away.
