Written to help me make sense of the heartache and pain in my life. |
His Wonderful Design I don’t know why some of us must endure more than others. Nor why it seems we must experience heartache and affliction in order to become strong, yet sensitive. But I believe it is on these occasions in which we struggle that God has his hands on us; molding us like a potter his pot, knowing ahead the final product, and laboring diligently toward it. What was once an amorphous lump of clay that lolled in the dexterous hands of the craftsman is transformed into a distinctive pot; fashioned with twists and turns. Just as the originator has a use for each of his vessels, he does not make the pot, then throw it away, so has God a use for each of us. We may think he has erred for we cannot see his master plan. We may feel like we have been fired in the heat too long; made hardened, yet fragile in the process. But it is this hardship that builds strength and character in us all. Each twist and turn that we must face makes us uniquely beautiful and we are able to give God the glory for his wonderful design. For it is a collage of our tears, sweat, and broken hearts that God collects and so tenderly pieces together to create each of our lives. |
