Mrs. Finks was the meanest, ugliest teacher Gwen had ever known. She had gnarly, thick yellow fingernails that she frequently scratched on the chalkboard to get her class’ attention. The students joked that she was really a witch. Biology was a sacred subject and woe to any student who didn’t agree.

Gwen hated Biology and was a poor student. On one Friday afternoon, Mrs. Finks made her stay after school for popping her gum in class. As she was cleaning erasers, slamming them angrily, she felt a presence behind her. She tried to scream when she saw those yellow, gnarled fingernails pass in front of her face and lock around her throat. Mrs. Finks cackled; her cauldron would bubble tonight.
