What is America really thinking? |
America is thinking: We can't walk down the streets. There's a bus at each corner To take the place of our feet. Another stop on the side Where you can walk in the door, Place an order for two, And get enough to feed four. Our magazines illustrate The expectations to meet; To be skinny and slender, Look stylish and sleek. We’re hypocrites with weapons Of propaganda and trends. Buy a car then some pills, It all goes to our heads. Global warming is nothing When a D cup is hope. If the ocean takes over, Then at least you can float. At this point we are objects And products of money. No one cares if you’re smart, You just have to be funny. So why do we have A problem with green cards If being free to ourselves Is a tall tale so far? We’re a result of our Booming democracy. Of no passion, no hope, Of exciting vulgarity. Advertisement should perish In the hands of such greed, When we’re forced to buy peace And everything we don’t need. When a teenager begs For some miniscule cash To fill a little car’s tank With a gallon of gas. What happened to the prospect Of being unique? Because now if you are You’re considered a freak. America is thinking: Let’s take a big stand. Let’s solve this together. It’s in everyone’s hands. Let’s raise up our voices Of continuous praise towards The ones with the choices In this culpable phase. Because without us there is No American dream. Without us America Has no uprising gleam. If we can make her the best She can possibly be, Then maybe a new day Won’t come with a fee. |
