an innocent looking envelope will chnage his life, forever. |
Domino Effect (235 words) Never had he raised his voice, never against his dad, never but today. Today his world came crashing down when he found out that he had a stepsister by the name of Amber. It was all thanks to an innocent looking brown envelope which the postman dropped by that very morning. It was sent by his dad. He knew it by the writing on the face of the envelope. The letter was short, a one-liner at that. It declared the existence of his step-sister, a certain Amber Gill, who lived in the same town as him and urged him to visit her. Immediately he phoned his dad and greeted him with curse words, before slamming the phone down, abruptly. How he hoped his dad could have kept his mouth shut about Amber the way he had been doing for the 20 odd years, for his sake, and for the sake of his love. He could have lived without this revelation, and lived happily. As he lay his head down on her lap, his mind was experiencing a tsunami. He hugged her tight; he loved her more than anything else in this world. But he knew he’d never be able to hold her and kiss her this way again. Never. Things would change. Handing her the brown envelope, he addressed his lover in a shaky voice, ‘Amber…’ He had to tell her about their blood relation. |
