Conversation that occurs on a civil war battlefield between a Rebel and a Yankie
Musket fire and smoke surrounded them
as the two lay on the ground
Crimson red flowed from their bodies
mingling there without a sound
One wore blue and one wore gray
but still they reached for the other's hand
and as his life's breath stole away from him
one helped the other to understand
He said come with me to a land where there is no blue or gray
where you and I can walk as brothers again
In our Lord's eternal day
For there won't be any battles there
and no more pain to cloud our way
so come with me to that golden land
where there is no blue or gray.

Oh the soldier's tears were happier now
as he began to understand
that the Savior's blood had made the way
for him to enter gloryland
and though his young life had been a sinful one
the Lamb of God, that sin-debt had paid
How he thanked the Lord for this "enemy" who lay dying beside him today

Saying come with me to a land where there is no blue or gray
where you and I can walk as brothers again in our Lord's eternal day
For there won't be any battles there and no more pain to cloud our way
So come with me to that golden land where there is no blue or gray

Oh the two turned to each other smiled and gently closed their eyes
Still very close as angels carried them to their new home beyond the skies
And they're walking along a golden street and wearing robes of spotless white
their blue and grey left far behind them now

for there is no need to fight

the Lamb of God is now their light

they're living in sweet victory

tonight!
