Johny boy fought in three wars for us before losing the final battle.
Thrown into motion
by childhood stupidity
Smoke and ashes stained
and forced life's hand.

Off on a whirlwind adventure
set sail for the fareast
March in step Johny
You may never make it home

Watch friends cut in half
life on ship is never dull
How many hearts can you add
And how does one sleep in a bag?

Sail for home johny lad
all alone, all alone
Death comes twice for you
but youre banished back to war
Keep it on the ground this time
March where none come out alive
Except for five, only five
arent you glad to be alive?

But every knight needs a home
You must fight for something
Find a bride, have a ride.
bear fruit for the land you defend.

Blood and guts couldnt prepare,
you were lost from the start
Roam the land which you defend
keep home as a retreat to mark.

20 odd years until you returned
back to the wars Johny boy
Treat it like a holiday
a weekend escape for the mind

Once, twice, thrice youre gone
fear caught you now did it?
You had an out you ignored
so fear will have to be enough

The mid-east should hold you well
nomads, roamers and war
Just what an old man needs
to harken his steps of youth

You made it again Johny boy
not whole or well but alive
Three strikes, one foul,
but here it comes, number five

Five seems to be your number lad
Five battles, five kids
Five days and nights of fighting
Did mother finally arrive?

This is a battle you cannot win
your body is fighting itself
Life is a bitch at the end
when orders fall on deaf ears

You gave it a good fight Johnny
but all warriors have to fall
I wonder if Valhalla received you
or was it just another cruel trick
