war drama of a teen

Early one morning, a long time ago, some men heard the wind whispering in the trees.
Yet all that was shattered by a sound they wished was only the breeze.

It was the sound of war
And the screams of men going to God’s door.

Through the trees and around a small bend
These men hunted some others who weren’t where they should have been.

No hearts were merry, none light
For it was brothers, uncles, cousins, sons, that they might have to fight.

You can rewind a movie now
But in real life that’s impossible, there’s no way no how.

Shots were fired,
And while no one cared each wounded man’s heart slowly retired.

While those that stood for chains fled
A teenage boy moved to see who all was dead.

Many mourned a friend they themselves had killed,
And everyone was obviously grief filled.

He did not understand why their feelings they couldn’t contain,
Until he himself had to feel the pain.

Staring up at him was his younger brother’s ashen face,
And he knelt down to give him one last embrace.

As the youngest took one last breath
He was greeted by none other than Death.

The older brother felt anger pulse through his veins,
Why did people let their differences place hatred in their brains?

He started to feel guilt
And more anger toward this country, man had built.

If for every man America symbolized being free,
Then why is there discrimination where there shouldn’t be?

The boy left the war
And vowed to fight no more.

The rest of his story you can decide,
But wait that isn’t the end of this ride.

We don’t have an American civil war today
But still living is no play-day.

There is still discrimination everywhere you turn,
So I will show you something that everyone should learn.

Look at your neighbor
Study them, then look in the mirror.

No person is exactly the same,
And if we were it would be really lame.

People’s RIGHTS should be equal.
So fix it before I have to write a lectury sequel.
