Life is best spent in laughter. |
| In the Springtime, When you couldn't wait To climb a tree and see the world Your mother said To plant your roots And take the time to see what grows... You wouldn't listen then, I know-- My mother told me too. But life is different now... So if you will promise When the wide-open fields of Summer call Through the golden hours Of the afternoon To tread bare-footed through the grass For just one moment In your hurried youth Then I will pledge In the glowing Fall of spun-sugar sweets And the carnival To let you give me sticky kisses, And lead me side by side And hand in hand To the place where the music plays... I'll even be persuaded to slip off my shoes, Unpin my hair, And if you beg, I might just Let you teach me How to dance... |
