He thought he found Utopia...
I once visited a land far, far away,
And once I got there I wanted to stay,
But I knew my wife would not like
If as a husband I went on strike,
So I told myself I'd stay for a bit,
And once I had my fill I'd pack up and quit.
Well, things happened and, long short,
I began to import and began to export
The local botany surrounding me
Including coca, cannabis and poppy.
My wallet exploded in my pocket,
So in a safe I stuffed and locked it,
But it did me no good out there--
American currency was no good--
But with that I did not care...
I knew I never would.
My hammock of sinew and leaves
Held me as I felt a light breeze
Puff past my fingertips
And puffed a joint in my lips.
What of my wife? Oh--I forgot!
I hope angry she's not!
I made a mistake, honey! Don't you see
That deep down I care for thee?
I'll do anything to get you back--
Even give up my weed and crack--
Just write me back! Let me know
What you want to do and where you want to go!
Please don't be dead--
Though my beard is gray I have it in my head
That this isn't happening--that I'm home with you
With a clean body and clean soul too...
But God had a different plan:
Face what you've done--your life of lie,
You can do what you can,
But she's gone, and you're gonna die.
Goodbye, my darling...
I'm so sorry.
