A poem I wrote about a life I dream of I guess...
The sun shone on you this morning as you slept
I didn’t want to wake you, so quietly I crept
While in the rush of days first hour
Before my breakfast, before a shower

I stood over, watching your chest fall and rise
And in that moment a tear broke my eyes
Why, with all the fish that seem to roam
Why was it that you chose me to call home?

I finished my coffee and slipped out the door
Yearning each step to go back once more
I made it through the entire day
Dreaming of you each minute away
Then that same sun that shone on your face
Began to set, to take its place

I knew you would be there waiting
Making dinner, anticipating
Faster and faster and faster I drove
Around the park, down the cove
To the beautiful home you bought just for me
Because our future, our family, all this you could see

I jumped out of the car and skipped a few steps
Into your arms I eagerly leapt.
To feel you, to smell you, to taste your soft kiss
Made the end of my day heavenly bliss
