A poem about the a dogsled race, the chill in the air making everything crisp and clear...
A chill crawls down my spine,
As I come upon a lake of ice.
The air is sucked out of my lungs,
As the mountains grow in the background.

The icy blast of wind in my face,
Stings as an angry cloud of bees.
I pull up my scarf,
And call to my dogs.

I struggle to take in a breath,
As the wind pushed against my face.
I whistle to my dogs to slow,
For we had gained too much speed.

I stare at the crispness of the meadow,
As the sled glides across the hardened snow.
The snow is glittering diamonds,
Sprinkled upon the ground.

The clouds open their arms,
And let go of their dazzling treasures.
Deeper and deeper the snow gets,
As we come to the welcoming checkpoint.
