This is a poem on the tug and pull, love and hate of young love
What I’ve Decided on Love

Love…
First kisses, first kisses, first kisses and then last.
Dressy Dates, walks along the canal, holding hands in the mall, and hearts beating fast,
Cologne hugs, thoughtful cheap and expensive gifts and sweet, happy valentines.

Love…
Sweet, everlasting, romantic, Love
Rainbow-colored flowers, fragrant, succulent, candles,
Luxurious dinners, fresh picnics and morning brunch…
Fighting, but eventually remembering the love and making up,

Love…
Vicious conniving manipulating Love,
Dying roses, broken stems, broken hearts, souls being dumped.
Lies of forever, loved strangers long forgotten,
Chocolate bars and hearts, ice cream pints and breakups.
Returned jewelry, stolen faith, plastic gifts and all that is fake.

Love
I have seen your sides and now I must say…
With your fancies,
With your unreliable promises,
With your spontaneous gifts,
With your mint kisses,
With your Abercrombie and Fitch hugs,
With your Olive Garden and Steakhouse dinners,
With your unforgettable dates,
With soft strategic touches, familiar flowers and all that is love embraced.
Yes, I have come to decide Love…it is you that I Hate.
