I am very against animal cruelty.
Each and every single day
Mistreated animals are losing fights
Greedy humans must get their way
For animals apparently have no rights.

How do we say they lack logic and reason,
When we ourselves don’t show much?
Towards them we commit treason
Those poor beings: caught in the devil’s clutch.

We treat them as though they have no brain
As they fend for themselves on the street
We inflict significant amounts of pain
So we could have a variety of meat.

What causes us to live this way?
Where in our hearts do we confide such hate?
Have we always lived in dismay?
What shall become of this awful fate?

Far more than a household pet
We brush them off as we do our shoe
There’s still one thing we tend to forget:
That, in fact, we are animals too.
