Just a small section of a story I'm working through my head right now.
It was as if there had never been anyone there. The once over crowded assembly hall was empty and cold. Its size so much more apparent now it was devoid of life. Where chairs had lined the walls there was only dust and the windows struggled against the light trying to break through.
Eris walked from the door towards the other end of the hall where the stage sat. Dust clung to the bottom of her trousers as they dragged along the cracked floor, cobwebs that stretched from wall to wall found new footing on her clothes as she passed through them. She paid little attention to this, her focus directed far away from the years of disrepair that hung all around her.
