winter

Winter is here now
the frost on the ground
making the trees and the grass
look just like the glass
all covered in patterns
all the same, but different somehow.

Thoughts of snow make children
happy thinking of snowmen and
sledging. Parents and grandarents
think about their youths.

Everyone gathers around warm
blazing fires. Listening to tales
told so often, but well-beloved of all.
The cocoa and toast help to warm frozen
toes, the tales help to keep warm,
hearts of gold.
