A poem about taking opportunities rather than waiting for things to happen |
Everyday I walk along the hall's elegance And I always see this man whose hands warm the ledge One such moment I decided to take that chance To talk to him facing the verdant flower hedge; Though he talks to those worthy of his confidence That want I will remove from the tightened wedge I felt a little hesitant to call his name Though I'm familiar of his name and character For I fear the reap of a snobbish person's blame And for my company will make him bewilder; Yet I went there beside the spot he stood same And greeted him as if we have known each other He greeted back though he stood stiff as a pillar And silence washed us in a moment so awkward The tightened wedge slipped with the wheel of a miller And I told him I have a problem so forward; He answered me in a single word voiced stellar The wedge finally dropped with a hint of envy marred I told him about the wedge that stuck there so long And I felt my tongue clamped in a grip very tight He laughed a little with his voice rich a song And I told him about my dilemma so slight Why he chose to talk only with a handful along And he smiled at me with his face radiantly bright He asked me if that bothered me strongly as such For he found it queer that I felt this jealousy For the people he wanted to be with so much; Nonetheless I told him that it did precisely As I looked at the hands I wish to touch If he won't connive of what I would want to be He told me that he had someone else in that heart But it did not go to the path he wished to go He then apologized for laughing 'bout that part And I told him that it was fine to do it so; Albeit that moment came one sunny day's quart The heat of the sun was far less for me to know He then removed the hands that kept the ledge so warm And I felt that that precious moment will end soon I asked if I could be like them who hear his tune He became still and looked at the sun turning moon He looked at me and gave me a tap on my arm Henceforth, I realized the meaning of that charm... |
