One Chance Encounter

One chance encounter
is all it took.
One word is all I heard.
My heart is light
with knowledge
that there is something,
out there for me.

A fog moves in
enveloping my mind.
The past revisited today.
And so, here I stand
my heart is heavy
pain its one companion.


So sharp a pain
it takes away my breathe.
Brought on by the knowledge
that what could be so tangible
is yet again
intangible to me.

My heart now aches
with this knowledge.
My mind cries out in pain.
Can the past
become my future?

One chance encounter
brought this on.
Can my dreams become
my reality?
If not today, then when?
