'I'm blind' Josh reasoned as she opened her eyes and was met with only darkness. She sat up and grabbed her aching head with her right hand, softly rubbing the large lump that was forming. She shut her eyes tightly trying to remember the events that had led her to this point. The last thing she recalled was walking into old dusty warehouse, then waking up here. Slowly she pushed herself to a sitting posistion and methodically checked herself over feeling for any injuries other than the bump at the back of her head. When she was completely satisfied that she was unharmed, other than her new blindness, she slid her hands around her. Probing her surroundings with her hands she could tell that the floor beneath her was metal. Not a smooth, polished surface but raw sharp metal. The ground beneath her jumped wildly, jarring her painfully, and sending her slipping down to her back. Her foot hit something solid as she slid across the rough metal. Regaining her balance Josh searched for the object she had hit. Her fingers groped for the mysterious object, and when she struck the soft warmth of human flesh, she stopped. The breath caught in her throat as Josh traced the fleshy form to the wrist and felt for a pulse. 'Please let there be a pulse.' Josh prayed to herself. The anonymous arm bounced as the floor again jarred and bounced. This time it was apparent to Josh that they were in some sort of vehicle. Quickly recovering her grip on the arm she found a pulse. A sigh of relief escaped her lips and she fell back against the wall relaxing monetarily. "Where am I?" a terrified voice called out through the darkness. Josh sat still, the voice had come from several feet away. 'There's someone else in here!' "Hello?" Josh called out loudly. "Who are you? Where am I? What'd you do to me?" the voice cried frantically. "I didn't do anything to you. I'm not sure what's happening here. Look my name is Josh Coen I'm a special agent for the FBI, I just woke up here." "Get us out of here!" the desperate voice begged her. Josh nodded knowing full well that this person wouldn't be able to see the simple gesture. As the floor beneath her rolled and moved Josh struggled to keep her balance as she crawled along one wall searching for a door or release, something to get them out of the impending darkness. Along her scouting she felt two more bodies, and after calling out to the voice from before she was sure that these two were new people. That brought the grand total up to five. Slowly Josh moved on sliding her hands blindly over the harsh metal along the wall. She had gone a several feet when she felt a crack in the wall. Tracing the crack with her fingers she could tell that is was a door. "A door I found a door." "Can you open it?" the voice called out to her. Josh tried to push the door open then groped for a handle of some sort, but there was nothing. "It has to be opened from the other side." |
