a tour of NC and it's history |
From the deepest of pines to Asheville's Biltmore Estate, the elevation of Black Mountain to Raleigh's N.C. State. Deep waves of the Atlantic upon the shore of Wrightsville Beach, neighbors to Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia's peach. A representative of the South the best foods you'll ever eat; home-fried chicken and barbecue chitterlings and pig's feet. Yes we have the southern drawl but we know our education, for those who say we're slow here's a word; ramification! We were raised to be polite greeting others with respect, every country town and city shows love--dawn to sunset. Some of the best roads I know another word; here's conjugate, take 77 to the Queen's City known as Charlotte--the Queen's gate. Don't forget this is the home of brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright, they're the reason for US Air 1903--the "First in Flight". And let's not forget the culture a plethora of Native tribes, from Cherokee to Nansemond; Haliwa-Saponi--this one's mine! Yes you'll see a few 'red necks' but I swear they're friendly too, we're just a bunch of loving people Hispanics also, this is true. Take 95 to "Fayette-Nam" home of Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, then head on down to Camp Lejeune Marine Corps of Jacksonville. Read the history of Cabarrus county to find more on Reed's Gold Mine, get on 40--go through the gorge to a simpler place in time. Follow me to the city: Greensboro home of 'Aggie-Eagle' thrills, to one of the top research universities UNC of Chapel Hill. Now take 40 back to Raleigh the city where I was born and raised, I've been from here to California but to this place I give my praise. The state fair of late October The 'Raleigh Parade' of mid November, the "First Night" of January these are the days I must remember. I am thankful for this knowledge rich with love as I have shown, so don't be biased towards the South this is North Carolina, my precious home. copyright(c)2006 SkWright/Leopassion7 All Rights Reserved |
