This is my dear me letter for the competition
Dear Me,

Happy New Year and may all your dreams come true.

I just wanted to remind myself of all my resolutions and the good that can come from them, how the life that I want could just be round the corner.

So this is it, January 2007, a new year, a new start, a chance to make things happen with this new determined resolve. What do I have in store for myself this year? I will give up smoking and lose weight, a new healthier me you will see in 2007. Don’t forget this is more than achievable, already I have gone 2 days without cigarettes and the cravings are starting to go, they are definitely getting easier to ignore! And as for losing weight, my motto this year “No more dieting” I want to be healthy and fit, not depressed and deprived. So already I am well on my way, although I am a couple of days behind on the healthy eating part, although I figure Rome wasn’t built in a day.

The other thing I want to achieve for my new better life. Writing. I think about doing this all the time, but this is the year to DO, not think. So my goal, to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and write anything and everything, practice, practice, practice. I love writing and I can do this. My goal this year is not to be published (at the moment that is more of a dream than a goal) but to write, to complete my own story in my own style. To write everyday, even if it is in my journal. But ultimately by the end of 2007 I want to have made a start on THE story, the one that’s been bopping around my head for years, THE one that just won’t shut up, that is screaming to be written down.

You can do this, this is the year where goals are completed and maybe even dreams come true. Corny, I know, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Stick with it and you will be happier and more fulfilled than you have ever been. You can almost feel that glow of achievement by just planning how you will reach your goals, times that by a hundred and that’s how you’ll feel this time next year.

Love always

Rachel
