A dialouge exploring a bit of philosophy. Written 7 years ago.

Alley lay silently in the grass staring at the stars. She knew Jaycen was there. He had blocked her from using the force but she was, in essence, a goddess. All the same, she pretended not to notice him. She had thought that Jerec would make an excellent proof for all the ignorant religious squabblers. But he was married and had kids and would spend no time with her. Which, she figured, could count as something of a proof to her point, he loved his wife and kids.
"I’ll show you Jaycen, if you’ll accept, I’ll show you humanness and godliness." she whispered. She knew what she had to do. She took out the knife of Cootmeeyar. It was the only thing that could kill her. She placed it over her heart and pressed hard, holding it in her heart until she felt it stop sucking the magic. It would not take anymore of her life essence tonight. Jaycen had since left. She put her knife away and teleported to his tent following the link she’d attached to him. He looked up trying hard to hide his astonishment.
"What do you want from me?" she asked "Did Jerec send you to kill me?"
"He said I could do what I wanted with you." Jaycen replied
"Still only halfheartedly being a sith." Alley shook her head then laughed. "So what will you do with me, Jaycen?"
"Make you fear sith." Jaycen said menacingly.
Alley suppressed a laugh. "Stupid, silly sith. I will never be afraid of you. You think you’re all evil and crap, well guess what...You’re not." Alley shrugged nonchalantly and stuck her finger in the hole the knife had caused in her chest. Jaycen watched her with a perplexed saddened look on his face.
"Stop doing that," Jaycen finally spoke pulling her hand away from the wound she was making bleed. "You don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m evil, I’m a sith."
"Evil? If you were evil you would not stop me from hurting myself." She leaned over and kissed him lovingly, showing him the tenderness and care of someone who truly loved him. He sits motionless for a few minutes after she breaks away, licking his lips tasting again and again the sweet, loving, pureness of it. Sith. The thought slammed into him robbing him of the happiness. It was impossible for sith to truly love. If they did, it made them weak and eventually made them stop being sith. He opened his eyes.
"Sith cannot love, to be loveless is to be evil."
Alley shook her head. "Jerec loves his wife and kids. He would give his life for them. He wouldn’t kill me because one was sleeping in the same room. Are you saying he is not sith? If he is not sith, then why are you his apprentice? You’re digging a deep hole, all you’re telling me is contradictions. If Jerec loves then he isn’t sith and, from what you say, he’s not evil because sith are evil. But you, who claim to be evil, are still just an apprentice and you’re apprenticed to someone who, by your definitions, isn’t evil or sith. You’re not evil Jaycen." Jaycen was staring at her in amazement. Alley smiled softly. "Jaycen, evil is non-existent. Good and bad itself is dependent on perspective. If someone came into your house, accused your father of being evil, and killed him, hurting you in the process, who would you say was the bad guy?"
Jaycen thought for a moment, processing the scenario. "The other guy." he said
“What if your father had killed millions brutally conquering lands?"
"I’d still go with the other guy. Conquering happens, war happens, brutality can happen. You cannot always know what your troops are doing."
"But that is just your perspective. Now, lets say you’re a villager. You own a tailor’s shop. You have a lovely wife and daughter. One day all these soldiers ride in with their orders to conquer this city. But you and all the other villagers like your ruler because you have lots of freedom and you’ve been loyal to this royal family since before you were born. So you try to resist. Along the way your shop was taken. You are chained to the wall and forced to watch while you lovely enemy soldiers rape wife and daughter repeatedly. They then force you to watch while they kill your wife and young daughter." Alley pauses, observing Jaycen's now dark and hateful expression. “You somehow manage to escape. A few days later you receive word that the ruler behind the attacks has been killed. Who is the bad guy?”
“The guy responsible for the soldiers. There are more peaceful-“  Jaycen stopped. He realized the point Alley had been making. "Oh."
Alley smiled. “I figured you’d catch on quick."
“But I don’t know how. What am I supposed  to do? Show me, teach Me." he pleaded.
She gently stroked his face.  “I will show you my Jaycen.”
Then he did something he hadn’t done since he could remember. He smiled. Alley smiled too. She had succeeded. She had given him life, a meaning to existence. She had given him love.
