You Were There

You were there for me when I was hurt,
You picked my up, brushed off the dirt and
told me everything would be all right.

You were there when I was sad.
You made me laugh, and then we talked.

You were there when life turned up-side-down.
You helped me pick up the pieces and set
Me on the right path.

You were there when I was in danger.
You protected me and brought me home.

You have been there for me all of my life.
Though sometimes I didn’t know it.

You have always protected me, and loved me.
With no reservations.

You have always trusted me and let me make my own mistakes
