Tonight I Said Goodbye To You

This was another poem I wrote to my best friend after we spoke on the 'phone for what I thought would be the last time.

And so tonight I said goodbye
I bid you farewell, my friend
I told you that I love you
And will do until the end.
My decision now is to let you go
I simply can’t hold on
This is your choice, or so you say
And now, to me, you’re gone.
I love you, that’s the reason why
I have to let you go
What we had was great, I must admit
So let your happiness show.
Tonight I said goodbye to you
Never to meet again
Although I wish it wasn’t true
It is
I accept it
And Danya?
I believe in you.
