A legend that is proved true. |
The Butterfly Tree There is a tree in the meadow, It's branches reach out far, With leaves of many colours, Like pink, red and orange. There is a passed down legend, Most don't believe it's true, But I believe that legend, Because I know it's true. One day the sky was sunny, That day the air was clear, I went down to the meadow, To sit under the colourful tree. I thought about the legend, I recited it in my mind. "If you pluck a leaf off the tree, The leaves will start to fly..." I reached up and I grasped one in my hand, A leaf of many colours, I stared at the beautiful leaf, And I pulled it off the branch. The wind it started to blow, And the leaves, they started to flutter, I stared at the tree in amazement, As the leafs turned into butterflies. The butterflies flew off of the tree, There were thouands of butterflies there, The butterflies started to fly around my body, Then they lifted me up in the air. I was high up in the air, It was an amazing thing, The wings of those beautiful butterflies, The wings, they seemed to sing. They sang a song of happiness, A song of joy and laughter, "Thank you!" They sang, "Thank you for letting us free!" The butterflies lowered me to the ground, They put me down there softly, Then their wings said,"Goodbye!" And they flew far away together. I still remember that day, I remember it ever so clearly, The day I freed those butterflies, From the legendary Butterfly tree. |
