I guess I should change my name to Mr Lucky. The other day I was visiting with a friend of mine and he told me he had cut his finger on a piece of glass and within 24 hours had a major infection and surgery on the infected knuckle. It was so sudden as to be almost unbelievable. Just from a slight cut. Later that same day I was trying to quickly do a project for a neighbor and I had my own close encounter and ended up doing some blood letting of my own. I was pushing my thumb on the cut trying to get it wrapped up when my wife got home from her job. I didn't let her see my injury but instead suggested we take a drive to the neighbor's house. On the way I told her of our friend's injury and then casually added that I had cut myself a little and took my hand out of my vest pocket. I was going to let the ladies decide if we could doctor it or if I should go to town. I had two shots of Jamison and let the neighbor pour first, iodine, then several washings of peroxide, over the wound before wrapping it. All is doing pretty good now in just two days. Now for the Mr Lucky part. Not too many people can or do have such a slight wound after having a close encounter with a running table saw. |
