I see oceans in her eyes They seem to rise and fall The stormy blue of silence warns the other travelers off But I will sail these waters With the delicate whispers that I’ve told her And I shall linger in this sea for just a moment longer I don’t know where the sun will rise I left my body in the moonlight I braved her dampened twilight until I found her secrets I awoke in the morning Only to find myself washed ashore Raging seas had stole from me the treasure I implored I ran her endless beaches Without a face or a way of sailing home All my prior travels had never left me so alone Her worn-torn eyes stole from me Reason that justified my means The sweat and hope and memory of her delicate seas All the cherished years of innocence Drowned by my blatant ignorance I lunge myself into her crests that always seem to fall…right when I dive And so I built a vessel From all the words I believed were true I left for home on a Sunday dawn, chasing ethereal blue I painted my boat with memory With pain and other colors I had found On my sail I drew a flame that her sea could never douse…and I sailed on I stood tall as a Titan I wiped the blood from my shirt High on my vessel I whispered love like a curse …and I stayed strong like obsidian But I lost all of my reasons Like steam to the sky Past all these islands And the moon’s pale blue eyes …but I stayed strong like obsidian I will linger on…like obsidian |
