Alone

I am falling through the swirling vortex of time
Trying to gather the pieces of my life.
I am lying in my bed of broken loneliness
Trying to sum up the courage to confess.

I am not who I thought I was;
I am nothing but a shell.
I always thought I knew it all
But that was where I fell.
Because when I saw you
The world made sense.
My fears were banished;
My troubles absent.
I thought I had
The gratest treasure.
I believed you
Could be mine forever.
And then I saw her
Catch your eye;
My heart shattered,
My hope died.
She took you
Away from my heart.
And now I've fallen
Silently apart.
