Where I come from,
Lights don't really go down.
Not in my city.
Instead, they stay lit all night,
Wasting electricity,
Lighting the living rooms of my neighbors.
Maybe it's safety,
Maybe it's awareness,
Maybe it's just the city not wanting to do it.
Maybe it's just pure stubborness of the lights,
Wishing to hold on to one more hour,
Minute,
Second,
That it can light the streets with brightness.
But the lights,
They never go down in my city,
Not without having a moment to breathe,
Not without having a moment to...
Shine.
