Ms. Fairfax, will you marry me??
"I'm so tired," Ms. Fairfax exhaled, allowing her dreamy arm to rest at her side, "And it's so boring to be horrified."

She sat in the chair as though she wasn't there, pricking her thumbs at the numbskulls of the world, smiling to herself. She noticed the dust falling through the light, and wondered if she wasn't exactly like the dust.

"If I were dust," she thought to herself, "I should dust myself off!"

Ms. Fairfax turned her attention to the looking-glass, which looked right back at her. She made faces in odd fashions, she did all that she could to out-wit the looking-glass.

"Look here, looking-glass," she said, "Suppose I look at you? Suppose I copy all of your motions, huh? You wouldn't fancy that very much would you!"

And turning her nose high in the air she spun about, and landed upon a pun.

"Fancy that!" said she.

She drifted across the room, and her hand glided to her umbrella, swooping out as it was, and she mused, "How odd a word is 'umbrella'".

She grinned.

"Umbrella," she said again.

The umbrella itself was not dis-shevelled by her fancies. Matter of fact, the umbrella was glad to have such attention.
