My mother’s love is incredibly strong
She fought for her son, even if he was wrong
I will never forget the bonds that were made
Through the desert valley, and the forest's glade.
We traveled the world, and saw all of the sights
Together we talked, and have cried through the night
I remember her sweet smelling, soft skin against mine
And when I needed her most, she was there just in time.
She gave me life, love and a place to call home
In return I gave her stress when I forgot to phone.
She offered me help, friendship and knowledge
All of which I forgot when I went off to college.
I am too busy now, I must keep on moving
It’s my life mom, I’ll do my own choosing
Thanks for the food, the money and stuff
See you later, I’m leaving, I think I’ve had enough.
Now I look back, a thousand miles from Missouri
And I wonder why was I in such a big hurry?
I long for the nights, nestled in her warm lap
And I hope that she knows that I love her right back.
