The Promise

                   "The Promise"

Flit
flitter, flit,
         flit.
The exchange was quick.
And as always before
understood,
         not spoken.

Flit, flit
         flit.
Stars lit
as they kissed,
a token of love
and forever bliss.
He took his flight
temporarily out of sight.

A promise
of new life together
was previously set.
Shhhkboom,soon
he found his skin cloak
long in the breeches,
and a loving family he met.
Adorned with baby fine chestnut
hair and color of eyes the same.
As he grew, he would search
and search again for her name.

Each life needs remembering
from the last few.
But the love that burned
creates love anew.
Always another life journey;
at times a different destination.
As he yearned,
she was sure to return
on the same path as his.
Her late arrival caused some confusion.

To him being alone,
time seemed like forever.
Yet,
only a speck
or moment in the universe,
were they to finally be together.

Remembering now is easy
when you see,
what is always was.
And it was a heartbeat
that brought them
here together to meet.
