Silent snow falls on trees,
weighing down their out-stretched branches.
Birds stay tucked away from the frigid weather.
I can't blame them for hiding when
The cold air stings.
All is still, all is quiet as
the night drags on. It's like a
Photograph of some edgy scene,
I don't want to be part of it.
Lower and lower the branches sink
as the flakes slowly collect.
Mighty green pine trees are reduced to
white statues frozen through winter.
I never liked things set in stone.
Icicles form like jagged teeth on
the jaws of a monster with fangs
waiting to devour. They are enough to scare
me away from the angry maw.
I'll try to escape this wreched place,
Where snow and ice ravage lives.
Where biting frost and howling wind
cannot get me. It may be awhile,
But I am sure to leave.
