Taught

Most lessons in life
are difficult to learn.
Our stubborn will refuses
to bend, to accept the fact;
maybe we don't know it all.
The really hard lessons,
the ones that hurt,
these are taught
by the ones we love.
Trust,
that was the lesson
I was teaching you
by giving you all of mine.
But, you threw it back
a knife in my heart.
Now, as I bleed tears,
you are teaching me
about forgiveness,
how truly hard it is
to give.

And though I'm broken,
I know you are sorry.
You need to know,
my love is unconditional,
and even though
the lessons you teach me
are my hardest learned,
you, my child,
my beautiful daughter,
are still my favorite teacher.
