I wrote this for my fiancé (now husband), a description of my love for him. |
This one’s for you... I once tried to paint the perfect picture, As a gift to a really great friend, I tried and tried, But nothing perfect came to mind, And finally I sat down, Pencil in hand, And painted the most unconventional picture, Not seen with the naked eye, The colours more intense Than those of the brightest rainbows, A picture straight from the heart, Edged with so much gratitude and love, And once again I find myself, Trying to paint yet another perfect picture, This time, the picture was meant for you, Only to find to my own astonishment That what makes this picture special, Is all the flaws edged with love, All the lessons learned, All the knowledge gathered, What makes this picture beautiful, Is not at that it is perfect, But because it is real. My Love for you is real, And beautiful, And difficult, And scary, Confusing, Dynamic, And Gracious Not perfect, This painting has but one meaning, I love you! And if you look closely, You will be the first to see, This picture is painted Not on canvas, But right across my heart! I love you! By: A.V. Moultrie (Now Ortlieb) |
