Endless Days

This is something that is completely different than anything else I have written. It consists of memories that I have of my high school career.

Endless Days

Staying up late
Partying until dawn
Hanging out with friends
And sleeping in

Going to school
Joking with pals
Teasing those around us
And flirting with girls

Visiting Critter Town
Drinking until nauseous
Passing out on the floor
And staying the night

Working hard to make the team
Scrimmaging in the gym
Shooting out the lights
And listening to the crowd cheer

Hooking up with whomever
Kissing under the stars
Making out in the mall
And taking it too far in the bathroom

Fighting in the hall
Practicing in the gym
Daydreaming in the classroom
And gossiping in the cafeteria

Having a baby girl
Losing my brother
Crashing countless parties
And trying marijuana

Skipping school
Caring about nothing but me
Thinking the days were endless
And realizing too late they weren’t

Counting down the days
Taking final exams
Rehearsing for graduation
And wishing to go back again

Marching through the doors
Standing in my spot
Observing those around me
And hoping not to fall

Stuttering through a speech
Wondering how I did
Receiving my diploma
And throwing my hat

Snapping pictures with family
Eating a late dinner
Hurting on the inside that the end was here
And driving back to school one last night

Playing games with classmates
Talking to everyone
Taking it all in
And goofing around for our last hours

Watching the sun come up
Knowing not of the tragedy that had occurred
Feeling bittersweet going down the halls to the front door
And heading back home

Sleeping for a few hours
Learning about the coach
Pondering what had happened
And knowing now the endless days of school were over
