This was inspired by a love of mine...
The warmth of that summer night caressed her like a lover
The sound of cicadas filling the silence with their eerie call
The white gardenias, lay brown and dying on the ground
She sat on the step , her feet turning them, disturbing their scent
Until the air was filled with it , intoxicating her like a drug
In the distance a dog howled at the moon, mournfully
She closed her eyes as tears welled in them, a shiver running up her spine
Her skin aching for his touch , her lips trembling for one more kiss
Standing she embraced the porch post,
Her cheek rubbing against it, the coolness welcoming
The hard wood against her breast, she clung tightly
Suddenly there was a warm breath on her neck,
His lips brushing gently against her nape
He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her into him
His hand moving her hair from her bare shoulders, he kissed her again ,
Turning her around, she looked into his eyes , the moonlight capturing his tears
Her tongue slowly sweeping across her lips as she wet them
He kissed her eyelids and cupping her face in his hands
His sweet kisses feathering across her cheek
She wrapped her arms around him
The firmness of his body pressing against hers
His lips finding her open mouth as their tongues touched
Deeper they kissed , every breath they inhaled as one
Enveloped in one another they stood there
The warmth of the summer night caressed them
As the cicadas filled the silence with their eerie call.
