This is a darker, albeit philosophical, poem about life.
The longest day,
The darkest night,
The height of the stars,
The unending fight,

While these are forever,
The world will cease to spin,
The sun will lay down and die,
White fire will be dark and dim,

Our reality has had its time,
And we have had our reign,
But I think it’s time to sleep now,
Life and death are all the same,

In both man will deceive,
Even in death we never die,
Our lie will not allow this,
Somewhere I hear a quiet sigh,

Everyone tells this lie,
Whether pauper or the pope,
The lie is the joy of life,
So with darkness they can cope,

Many claim to see a light,
‘Tis just a candle in the dark,
Placed by some other traveler,
To attempt to leave his mark,

We live a life of darkness,
Even with our eyes we are blind,
So many claim to see the path,
In the dark they lost their minds,

I stumble through the dark,
In my own infirmity,
Though we cannot taste the water,
We drown in the well of eternity.
