We're All Angels (A Prayer To God)

Dear God,

Did You see that child today?
The one playing in the street.
Did You notice the bruises Lord?
The ones from her head to her feet.
Why do these things happen Lord
To a small child such as this
Was this supposed to happen?
When you made her, was this your wish?

Can You send an angel to her
To watch over her while at home?
To keep her safe from harm
To let her know she's not alone?
Can You reach out Your hand Lord
To protect her from the blows?
Can You ease her fears Lord,
When he breaks her nose?

I think I understand now Lord,
As I sit here and pray,
I realize that I'm her angel Lord
I'm to protect her in every way.
I'm not to turn my head
Pretend I didn't see
I'm supposed to do everything I can
To help that child go free.

I ask for Your strength Lord,
To help me with this task,
To watch over us both
While I complete what You ask.
To guide me with Your wisdom
Give me courage that's new.
So that the child will always be safe,
Once this is finished and we are through.

Thank you for Your guidance Lord,
For answering my prayers
I realize now that we are all angels
Waiting, so that when You need us
We will be there.
