this is a poem about a part of my child hood
Daddy you came in today
you were yelling and screaming
and I couldn't help but wonder
was it because of something that I did
tell me daddy what did I do?
to cause you to hit me
daddy what did I do
to be the focus of your angry words
daddy what did I do
for you to hate me so much

I went to bed and cried
I lied still for an hour
and listened to you and mommy
I heard her scream
and you yell
I cried some more and hid in my pillow
I still remember everything
I remember mama's crying as she held her eye
I remember the look in yours
as your hands wrapped around her neck

I walked to the door way and stood there
and watched her pain as you didn't shed a tear
you broke her necklace I heard it hit the sink
you screamed about how much you hate us
and every word was a cuss
you ran out on me when I needed you
you ran out on her when she wanted you

Daddy where did you go?
My sisters said you went to find a ho
is this true?
please daddy tell me
what did you do?
All I know is that I was left there crying
while all this time you were lying
you said you loved us
but is that true?
cause if it was
wouldn't you still be here?

Daddy you left us
I understand that now
And I realized that you hate us
simply because we kept you away
away from your whore
but I still believe that you still love me
and daddy I still love you
