Before She Runs Away

She comes home late with love marks on her

She is failing in all her classes

"It's none of your business!" she yells in my face

I can't continue to say, "You're grounded."

Her drug abuse has to stop

She's slipping through my fingers

Dying slowly, possessing her mind

It's poison flowing through her veins

The more I ground her or punish her

She pushes me away and she will run

All I want to do is help her
