A poem about an abused child who questions the love of his new mom.
I am safe and warm,
In my mothers tight arms.
She will always protect me,
And keep me from harm.

She says softly to me,
"I love you my dear"
I am vary confused,
And filled with great fear.

I want to beleave her,
Really I do.
But somthing inside me,
Screams "No!, It's not true!".

Unable to think,
That someone could love.
A person so useless,
That they are above.

I draw deep within,
My emotions locked tight.
I will not alow her,
To see my great plight.

But as all mothers do,
She sences duress.
She looks down and says,
"Lucius why so distresed?".

I look up at her slowly,
A fine mist in each eye.
She smiles warmly to me,
I cant help but to cry.

"Do you really love me?",
I ask sounding ashamed.
Her grip on me tightends,
And my voice becomes pained.

"I'm so sorry mom",
"Just forget that I asked".
My tears become bitter,
Flowing down hard and fast.

She quickly stops rocking,
And looks deep in my eyes,
A warm motherly gaze,
Shows me she'll never lie.

"Of course dear I love you",
"Your my sweet little boy".
"You make me so happy",
"And fill me with joy".

My tears now somewhat slow,
And my spirits slightly lift.
She will never fully know,
That her love is such a gift.

I soon fall fast and deep in sleep,
My fears have been Alayed.
I now am sure of her pure love,
I no longer am afraid.
